Tape and Scratches

Tape and Scratches is a series I began in 1995. These pieces are created be shooting dozens of 35mm images. A scalpel or exacto knife is used to shape the negatives, then they are pieced together using scotch tape, packing tape, or other adhesives. The final negative, which is often quite large, is scanned where minor manipulations are made digitally. This series is ongoing.
